By the announcement, people usually have an off campus housing lease secured, so they don’t take the on campus housing option even if accepted. Well, at these schools, we see a 5 to 10% average admission rate off the waitlist. The top of the list is Princeton, then we’ve got Duke, Notre Dame, UC San Diego, and University of Rochester. So, one thing to note about UC San Diego is that it has an average admission rate off the waitlist of 17.71%, which is actually really high.It reaaaaaaaaly depends. I've had luck in some departments and haven't moved a single spot in others. It also depends on the number of original seats in the class. It also depends on how neccessary the class is.
